Ten Things God Wants You to Do




Lean on Him in times of need: Psalm 73:21-24 "Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside.  I was so foolish and ignorant-I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.  Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny."  Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe."

Trust in Him: Psalm 33:4-5 "For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does."  Psalm 91:2 "This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him."  Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."  Psalm 37:5 "Commit everything you do to the Lord, Trust him, and he will help you." 

Be joyful: Psalm 119:1-2 "Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.  Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts."

Be joyful in relationship to the Lord: Psalm 37:4 "Take delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart's desires."

Give generously: Psalm 37:21 "The wicked borrow and never repay, but the godly are generous givers." Proverbs 11:25 "The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed."  Proverbs 14:31 "Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but helping the poor honors him."  Proverbs 21:26 "Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!"

Give Him your burdens: Psalm 55:22 "Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you.  He will not permit the godly to slip and fall."  1Peter 5:6-7 "So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."

Praise Him: Psalm 100:1 "Shout with joy to the Lord all the earth!  Worship the Lord with gladness.  Come before him, singing with joy.  Acknowledge that the Lord is God!  He made us, and we are his.  We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.  Give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the Lord is good.  His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation."  Psalm 103:1 "Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name."

Be calm and wise: Proverbs 12:15-16 "Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.  A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted."  Proverbs 14:30 "A peaceful heart leads to a health body; jealousy is like a cancer in the bones."  Proverbs 14:29 "People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness."

Enjoy life: Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 "It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.  And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it.  To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life-this is indeed a gift from God."

Know that all people sin, but God loves you Ecclesiastes 7:20 "Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins."  But God does want us to turn away from sin.  1John 3:6 "Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin.  But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is."

1Peter 3:11 "For the scriptures say, if you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.  Turn away from evil and do good.  Search for peace, and work to maintain it. "

Recently, I have gotten back on the wagon of health. I have spent a lot of my life highly addicted to sugar, and in the not so distant past, found myself 20 lbs overweight.
