About me

I live in San Luis Obispo, CA and am a mother of two.  I graduated with a Bachelors degree in business management with concentration in marketing back in 2010.  Several years ago,  after a Tony Robbins seminar, I realized what my true calling was-to be a life coach. With a difficult upbringing, challenging personal relationships, my own bout with disease, and my own self-doubt, I thought it would be hard to attain the dreams I envisioned for myself.  Instead, I have realized those things only helped me to figure out who I truly am, and what I am truly capable of. I don’t believe that “mistakes” identify you. They teach you, and challenge you to grow. I now enjoy life. I look forward to working on my dreams, my goals, and want to help others do the same.

10 Things I Wish I Knew 10 Years Ago

I began thinking about what kind of article to sit down and write today.  I thought, often, I see articles that promise a list of some kind.  So, I think I'll do it too!

Joking aside, I was thinking back about my life, about things I wish I had known when I was younger.  The following are some observations I've made over the years.  Hope you enjoy!


1.  Don't waste your time on meaningless/terrible jobs
I've had jobs that from the moment I walked in, I knew I was going to hate it.  And then proceeded to stay for 10 years.  Why would someone do that?  You might ask.  Well, there were all kinds of reasons to do it at the time.  It paid "decent," it had flexible hours.  I was able to go to school, and still pay the bills, etc.

The thing I didn't realize, was that all of these flexible hours flexed me right out of a lot of important family time.  I was working weekends/holidays, times I will never get back.  I thought it was helping me get through school, but …

Low Standards=Low Quality of Life

I want to talk about something that is very important. How our standards convert to a high quality, or low quality existence in life. Our minds are very powerful things. They are like computers, and whatever we are inputting, they are outputting. We tell our brain something like-”You're stupid!” And it's going to come up with ways to prove that what was put in, will be the output. Our standards are very important, because in this same way, standards are like a consistent input to our brain. Standards are something we may not even give much thought to, until we see that they are in a bad place. What I mean is that a standard is almost an input to the brain on autopilot. If I believe that my living situation standard should be that I have a 2 bedroom apt, then I'm going to work really hard at getting myself a 2 bedroom apt. But if I reach that level, then I can stop focusing on that situation (outcome) and look at something else. What comes to mind for me is how …

Journaling

I began journaling years ago after my brother bought me a journal for one of my birthdays. I always knew I loved to write, but I soon learned that journaling wasn't so much about being a good writer, as it was just getting stuff out and down on paper. It is an awesome counselor, and it always listens without judging. You can choose to re-read over the past, and see how much you've grown, or you can choose to never read the pages again. Sometimes it's very helpful to read back over what you've written. At one point, I decided to re-read my journal, and couldn't help but notice how negatively I was speaking about money. That made it easier to take notice, and make necessary changes. Because what you say you repeat, and what you repeat enough, you believe.
Don't be afraid to write down lists in you journal, brainstorm, draw pictures, think of new ideas to better your life. I can't tell you how freeing it feels to get it all out. And don't get b…
